Description

Stick fighting is one of its most famous disciplines and a great skill for an actor to have a basic grasp of as is used widely in films

Open to complete beginners, these sessions will be an introduction into the Filipino weapon arts of Kali, Escrima and Arnis.

Originating from the Philippines these martial arts put the weapon first, with new students learning the use of the rattan stick (olisi) before anything else. These arts have found their way into film, most notably the Bourne trilogy, Kick-Ass, Taken and The Book of Eli.

Students to this course will be covering a selection of armed and unarmed drills, giving them skills that can be taken into the performance room to add to any theatrical fight.

Each session is a stand alone class. You can use any appropriate props you may have. This session will focus on single stick / machete.

Sessions will be run by Rajesh Rishudeo, a Kali Instructor of over a dozen years. For more information, check out our ID Staff page.
