During the course, we will cover Unarmed and Rapier & Dagger techniques. Once we move on to choreography, we will also be looking at scene work. If you have any ideas for fight scenes that you would like to consider, please bring them in for the course leader to have a look at. A scene book will be provided if you do not have anything suitable in mind.
Scenes can be from any period and genre, from either film or theatre. They do not have to include a fight, just a strong argument where it can be integrated.
Generally, plays are better scripted for fights than movies, but there are some exceptions. Do not worry if you do not have anything in mind, there are plenty to choose from in the scene book.
The fight performance test (British Academy of Dramatic Combat certified examination) will be held on the last day of the course – this is optional and test fees are already included in the price of the course.
Clothing:
Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for movement. If you have gloves please bring them. They do not need to be leather gauntlets, gardening gloves will do as long as they are suitable for gripping i.e. not woollen.
