This course commences on Mon and runs through to Thur and then continues Mon to Wednesday. There are no classes on the weekend.
During the course, we will cover Unarmed and Rapier & Dagger techniques. Once we move on to choreography, we will also be looking at scene work. If you have any ideas for fight scenes that you would like to consider, please bring them in for the course leader to have a look at. A scene book will be provided if you do not have anything suitable in mind.
Scenes can be from any period and genre, from either film or theatre. They do not have to include a fight, just a strong argument where it can be integrated.
Generally, plays are better scripted for fights than movies, but there are some exceptions. Do not worry if you do not have anything in mind, there are plenty to choose from in the scene book.
The fight performance test (British Academy of Dramatic Combat certified examination) will be held on the last day of the course – this is optional and test fees are already included in the price of the course.
Students have the opportunity at the end of the course to take the British Academy of Dramatic certified examination. Please note the examination fee of £35 is collected by ID Fight upon behalf of the BASDC and will be paid to the BASDC. If you do not wish to take the fight performance test please let us know before the commencement of the course and we can refund you the £35.
Clothing:
Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for movement. If you have gloves please bring them. They do not need to be leather gauntlets, gardening gloves will do as long as they are suitable for gripping i.e. not woolen.
