IDFight Alight - Body Burns

In this one-day workshop you will learn all the safety and prep for a fire stunt, as well as doing a partial and a full body burn.

We will go through all safety gear and equipment. We will show you how to prep a performer into safety gear and gel before they are set on fire, as well as how to use a fire extinguisher to safely put a performer out.

Each performer will do one partial burn (arm, leg, part back, other) and one full body burn. We will go over movement, performance space and troubleshooting.

All safety gear, including gels, extinguishers and propellant are provided as part of the course.

Participants will need to provide their own 'costume' clothing for burning in - all natural fibres: cotton, linen, denim, leather. A towel, a change of underwear (they will get wet), and a packed lunch as there is nowhere to get food on site or nearby.

Bolt on professional footage option also available.

This course is for stunt performers and trainees, but open to all with an interest in fire stunts.

It is suitable for all levels of experience and fitness.

Lead Instructor

John Mulvey is a stunt performer from Ireland with credits on productions such as Into the Badlands and The Last Duel.

John specialises in fire stunts and has done fire work on TV shows like The Vikings and Vikings Valhalla, to movies Like The Wonder and Odyssey to name a few. He has over 10 years of experience in fire stunts and has completed hundreds of burns on performers in that time. Including recently setting up a Guinness World Record for most standing backflips while in a full-body fire burn.

Dan Styles is a stunt coordinator and performer with credits coordinating Avengement, One Shot, Rise of the Footsoldier: Vengeance, Never Back Down: Revolt and many more.
Dan has coordinated fire stunts on a number of films including Odyssey, The Power, Marine 6: Close Quarters and Turbulence.
