Description

4 day summer school for 15 - 17yr old's introducing them to the exciting world of stage combat .

Who Is This Course For?

15 – 17 year olds. No previous experience necessary.

This summer course is perfect for:

  • Kids who love exciting movie moments and want to learn how they’re safely created
  • Young performers who enjoy drama, action, or storytelling
  • Creative kids who like teamwork and learning new skills
  • Anyone who wants to boost confidence, coordination, and make awesome new friends!

If that sounds like you… you’re in the right place!

Who Teaches the Course?

You’ll be learning from professionally working stage combat instructors and fight directors, plus experienced practitioners who regularly teach under-18s in both dance and drama.

We keep things safe, supportive, and fun, with a staff-to-student ratio of at least 1 teacher for every 5 students. All staff are DBS checked.
To make sure everyone gets high-quality attention, we only accept 10 students total.

What Will Student's Learn?

By the end of summer school, you’ll be able to safely and confidently perform exciting, dramatic “pretend-fight” scenes—both unarmed and with safe stage prop weapons.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Follow and understand fun action choreography
  • Spot rhythm, match timing, and make stage fights look real while staying safe
  • Work as a team and recognise good, safe partner practices
  • Add character, storytelling, and emotions to action moments
  • Improve balance, coordination, body awareness, and focus
  • Build performance confidence and stage presence

You’ll walk away with real skills you can use in drama, dance, school shows, or future performing arts training.

What Should Participants Bring?

  • Comfy clothes you can move in
  • A refillable water bottle
  • Something to take notes with
  • Gloves for sword work (simple gardening gloves or leather gloves that aren’t slippery)

No gloves? No worries—we have spares.

Is There an Assessment?

There is no formal assessment. Students benefit from ongoing, encouraging feedback that helps them grow their skills and aim high in a warm, motivating environment. Because every young person learns differently, we pay close attention to individual progress and support each student as they develop at the pace that suits them best.

Why Is This Useful for the Future?

Learning these skills gives young performers a strong foundation for theatre, film, TV, and even motion-capture work—plus it boosts confidence, coordination, and teamwork. The techniques we teach are also taught in leading drama schools so any students hoping to further their acting training in the future will have ahead start.
